One day I’m driving home with the sun still hanging around, and the next it’s pitch black by five. “Fall back” always sounds kind of gentle, but in reality it’s a shift that throws everything off, from sleep schedules to evening motivation.
This season feels like an invitation to slow down and rebuild your rhythm. The mornings stretch a little longer now, and the light lingers just enough to make that first cup of coffee feel calmer and quieter. It’s the kind of morning where you might actually have time to breathe before the day begins. But those early sunsets can be tricky. It’s easy to feel like the day ends before you’ve even caught up.
I’ve been trying to make peace with it by adjusting my little routines. Earlier walks with the dogs before work. Making dinner a bit earlier or giving myself permission to skip the extra errand and just rest. Fall always brings change, but this one is more about working with it and finding new ways to still feel full even as the days grow shorter.
Maybe it’s about falling back into yourself, into habits that make you feel grounded, into the slower parts of life that don’t rush you. I’ve been enjoying my early mornings and have swapped my nightly resets to happen right when I wake up, which honestly has been a nice kickstart to a productive day lately.
As we settle into these darker evenings, here’s your reminder to create routines that fit this season, not fight against it.
