This past weekend felt like the perfect mix of fun, food, and a little bit of rest. The exact combo I needed. Friday was Nevada Day (s/o NV for making its founding a holiday), so we had the day off, and it happened to line up with Halloween this year (a rare and exciting win). We dressed up as the killers from The Strangers. A little creepy, a little iconic, and went to a friend’s Halloween party. The night was full of card games, pizza, and that easy kind of laughter that only happens when everyone’s having a good time.
Saturday started on the sweeter side. We drove down to Anneke Schat’s Bakery in Washoe Valley and grabbed some pastries, because honestly, who can say no to a divine chocolate croissant? After that, we headed to Olde Lyfe Alpacas for their open farm day. We got to pet and feed alpacas, sheep, and goats, and it was terrific. There’s something about being around animals that just makes the day better, especially cute fluffy alpacas. One of the farm staff pointed out the baby alpaca who had just been born earlier that morning! We spent the afternoon relaxing at home with the dogs before heading out on a double date to Dopo for dinner. The pizzas and pastas were all so good, and I’ve been wanting to try that place since it opened. Definitely worth it.
Sunday was all about slowing down. We stayed in to watch football while my man made breakfast (10/10, would recommend). I caught up on homework, we cleaned up the house a bit, and then closed out the weekend watching the Baddies reunion. The perfect mindless, but drama filled, TV to end a full few days.
All in all, it was one of those weekends that fills your cup with good food, good company, and just enough downtime before the week starts all over again.
